Period. The End: Wit, Wisdom and Practical Guidance for Women in Menopause–and Beyond
Period. The End by Linda Condrillo is an excellent well-written book for women who are going through perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause. Linda offers a deeper understanding of how the body changes as well as how to take care of yourself during this time.
Period. The End delivers a book 10 chapters long (101) pages of horrible symptoms such as weight gain, hot flashes, bone loss, anxiety, and lots more and offers lots of advice from other authors, experts in gynecology, acupuncture, nutrition and more, along with ladies who shared there very funny experiences too.
Period. The End offers healthy recipes, some basic advice about exercise and discusses other ways to handle the symptoms and issues that come with menopause: Hormone replacement therapy, natural therapies, dealing with stress, links to helpful websites, apps and charts and lists.
Some of my favorite parts of the book without giving to much away..
I love quotes of all kinds inspirational, motivational and funny, there are quotes by many in this book and I grabbed just 3 of my favorites right here…
“In my younger days, I had a flat tummy and a large rear end. Now, I have a flat rear end and big tummy. It’s as if my buttocks moved from my behind to my front.” —Beverly N.
“Do not regret growing older. It’s a privilege denied to many.” —Unknown
“There are few things worse than perky, upbeat proclamations about how this is the best time of our lives. Eventually it may be, but we go through a few ridiculous years before we come out of the other side feeling whole again. Different, but whole. Menopause. It will set you free, but it will really mess with you first.” —Lynette Sheppard
I can relate to so much of what was said in this book that I often thought that it was directly pointed at me. My favorite chapter (I could pick many, but don’t want to give to much away) and related most to me was chapter 3: SOS (Save Our Sleep). It covers the hot flashes at night, the crazy dreams (I have some really crazy dreams) and charlie horses just to name a few.
I saved the best for last, my all time favorite of the whole book was this awesome, hilarious and fun song..
